WaxWings

Today was really busy with errands and shopping, so here it is, almost 9:00pm and I haven't posted a picture, so I decided to post these photos I took at Mount Katahdin a few years ago. I recently took these files to our local photo shop (Bangor Photo) to have them printed into wallet size photos that I can use in my card making. I'll post the finished cards on my art blog when they are done. Maybe tomorrow will be a little less hectic, and a little more photographic!

Seven Below

It was 7 degrees below zero this morning when I took Jacob to school. Brrrrr.....Anyway, I had to drive up to my mom's house to check on things because last night it was 20 degrees below zero. Really brrrr. On the way, I drove across the bridge in Stillwater and it was so beautiful, that I had to turn around, park the car and walk across the bridge to take some photos of the fog and ice on the river. Some of the pics look like they were taken in a snowy field, but they are all of the river. Some parts are frozen over, and some are open water. It was truly an amazing sight to see. So, for all of you who HATE the winter, just look at how beautiful it really is, even when it's 7 below zero!

How many Dalmatians?

Tonight, Jacob and I were looking through a box of old photos that were at my mom's house. I was looking for a vintage photo that I could use to make an Artist Trading Card. While looking, I found this picture of Jacob. I took it when he was about 4 years old and totally obsessed with 101 Dalmatians. A friend had a litter of pups and brought them outside so he could play with them. He put them all in his wagon and wanted to take them home!

If Walls Could Talk...

On the way back to the nature center, we walked by this old house. I just loved the way it looked. When I see a house like this, I always wonder what kind of family lived there: were there lots of children? Did they have cozy nights by the fireplace, playing checkers and drinking cocoa? Where are they now, and why don't they live here anymore? I wonder if someday, someone will walk by my house and wonder...

Audubon Hike

Jacob and I like to go for hikes in the woods. During Christmas Vacation, we went to Field's Pond Audubon Center. We hiked into the ravine and found some deer tracks and then went out onto the frozen pond. I was too chicken to go out very far, even though people were out in the middle and someone had driven a 4 wheeler out there. If you look closely at the photo, you can see the tracks. We had fun anyway. Maybe after the cold snap this week, we can walk across to the island.

Hair Do

I took my mom for a hair cut today, and doesn't she look FABULOUS?! She always gets nervous for photos and makes funny faces and looks like she's in pain. This night I wanted to take her picture with her great hair-do. I said something funny about my camera and mom laughed - and I was quick enough to get this shot while she was still laughing. I just LOVE this picture of her.

Go Giants!

Today is the big game between New York and Philadelphia. I'm rooting for the Giants!
